Thank you God for the safe arrival of our 6th Great Grandchild, for a healthy boy and Mommy. Thank you too for the very happy Grandparents of this marvelous little Samuel Skye McDonald--(their first grandchild!). God bless you ALL. Love and prayers.
The best advice I ever got when children were about to be born to me had to do with how I viewed these little intruders, and myself, and others in my household. Loved, cherished, pampered a bit, needs studiously searched out and met, this new life could use up all anyone could give. I don't think anyone, parent or not, would try to convince you that caring for your new arrival will always raise benevolent feelings. No one will say that you will perpetually feel "in control" of every situation or that you will know what to do in all cases. Baby McDonald will need food, clothing, hugging, burping, singing, playing, and maybe hundreds of other ministrations not in any recognizable order. Your efforts at taking care of the body are necessary, but all by themselves won't have lasting value, and nurture his (or anyone's) eternal soul. This child is a little bit of forever; you are, too. If you continually, regularly, feed and nurture your relationship with Jesus Christ—you will have life, resource and wisdom from the Father of all to overflow to another, including your precious boy. The spirit lasts forever, even though the body never would. We all need to see people in our lives with an eternal perspective. Feed, clothe, and nurture your relationship to God, the eternal one. He delights in relationship with each of his created souls. He will instruct how to see, feed, and nurture the spirit of each person, that eternal part, so that even when responding to physical need, the inner character, the spiritual need will be in view. Seek, and your Father who is in heaven delights to give you “all that you need for life and godliness.” (I Peter 1:3)
